chistyshifaclinic.com/media/54/gemini-weekly-tarot-february-17-2019.php This was the most thorough and well organized Costa Rican travel guide that I purchased and was also the only one I referenced during my five-week trip. In addition to the abundance of information on hotels, hostels, regions, national parks, restaurants, etc.
Every other guide I looked through didn't have nearly as much information about schedules, routes, alternative routes, etc. July 18, - Published on Amazon.
I'm a week into my stay in Costa Rica, and the guide has been helpful and accurate in general. Navigating the links to various topics is not always easy, though. Formatting is scrambled up, and instead of advancing the same page will re-load time after time. That section deals with language and local expressions, so it would be a great help if only it workedW!
And use this book. July 23, - Published on Amazon.
This was the best of all of the guide books and I checked out all of them! We used it every day and were really pleased with the recommendations.

I would definitely read this book before going to Costa Rica. I just returned from Costa Rica, having spent over two weeks there and staying at 5 different places and types of accomodations.
I primarily used a Frommer's guide that I had brought and only used this guide to find accomodations in one town that was not featured in Frommer's. The guide said it would be a difficult road to the lodge they recommended, but it was nearly an impossible road to drive. It was about 2 km, all downhill, to the lodge with nowhere to turn around, so once you turned down the road you had to continue to the end.
Getting out the next day would have been absolutely impossible without the 4 wheel drive vehicle I had rented and I only made it out with the help of a good samaritan the vehicle still got stuck 6 times. We "bottomed out" many times trying to navigate and I am just praying that the rental car doesn't call me to pay for damages to the bottom of the vehicle. We were very fortunate that the axle wasn't broken.
The cabin we stayed in that was recommended in this guide , while having a gorgeous view, was overrun with rodents - poop falling from the ceiling!! When we got up in the morning, it was all over the kitchen counters, etc and even all over the bed that my son had moved from the middle of the night!!
I say "got up" because I did not sleep all night. We were on the side of a mountain and there was a terrible storm and this cabin was missing many panes of glass in the windows. The terrible winds and rain just blew right through the cabin, dampening us and all our belongings and luggage. Since we were far from the main house of the lodge keeper and the road back to the main road was impassible, we were stuck.
I was furious that this was a featured lodge in this travel guide!! I understand that Costa Rican standards are a little different, but this place was unhealthy and uninhabitable. The writers should do more research before recommmending such abominable places to stay!! On a recent trip to costa rica, I had two guide books, and this one was lacking in comparison. I purchased this book, but then later ended up buying the new addition of Lonely Planet as well, as the rough guide simply did not have as much information.
For most towns, they did not have as many accomodation listings as LP, and there were many smaller towns rough guide did not cover at all. I also found their maps not as easy to use. Overall, I would say this book is adequate, but that LP gives you a lot more info. The edition of rough guide is a definite improvement over the previous edition of the rough guide.
It is a solid guide to the sounds and sights of Costa Rica that has lots of information for the budget traveller. It has good maps and gives good descriptions of most tourist sites.
Make the most of your time with The Rough Guide to Costa Rica, the definitive companion to this peaceful destination. The full-colour section introduces Costa. The Rough Guide to Costa Rica (Travel Guide) (Rough Guides) [Rough Guides] on ISBN ; Product Dimensions: x 5 x inches.
I would say that this would be one of the 4 best guides for the budget traveller right now for Costa Rica--the other three would be the Lonely Planet, Footprint and New Key guides. See all 8 reviews.
